So, how old are you?

Yesterday was a lovely day of doing what I liked, when I liked and how I liked. Tetsu and Leiya pampered me in honor of my birthday!

After church we went to my favorite restaurant for lunch, a fantastic Indian restaurant where we stuffed ourselves with good food and atmosphere. I could go here every week if someone asked me!

After lunch we did a bit of shopping but I couldn't find anything I absolutely needed or wanted. Guess what I asked for but couldn't find... A standing ironing board! I decided I don't want to iron on the dinky Japanese board and I wanted to stand tall and iron my patchwork! Since I never iron clothes, you could see the big question mark over Tetsu's head when I asked for an ironing board but alas none to be found. I've got permission to buy one if I find one or order one if need be.

So... I spent most of the afternoon quilting and got quite a bit done! Leiya napped, Tetsu got a haircut and came back with a couple presents for me after all. A beautiful handbag and pajamas. No, I'm not modelling the pajamas for you! Mrs. Yano brought me a beautiful hibiscus plant too!

And I started the 365 Challenge so I've completed one goal. (That was easy!) I'm praying that year 52 will be a good one!

Happy Birthday!!!! What a fantastic day. Your husband's reaction to your ironing board request is much like the reaction I got to the iron I asked for at my wedding shower -- hunh? Especially since I don't iron clothes! My crafty friends knew JUST why I was thrilled!

That hibiscus is beatuiful and good luck on your journal quilt -- I agree, some sadness will have to be recorded along the way, but it is so much better to focus on the positive.

Happy Birthday! Your daughter is beautiful!

You know what you could do? Make yourself an ironing board! I use one that is just a half a piece of plywood that I have on a cheap pine book shelf. I used a staple gun to staple Warm & Natural (any cotton batting would do) and then I stapled cotton fabric on top. You could make the top any size and maybe even find a folding table on which to set it. If you need pictures of what I made, I'll be glad to send them to you.

Happy Birthday - glad you had such a wonderful day.

My closet looks completely different - too many clothes. Some fit some don't and some don't fit today but might fit next month. It's depressing the way my weight goes up and down.

I also wear jeans or capri's around the house to work in. I'm a hermit so most my clothes are casual and comfortable.

Happy Birthday! That Indian meal looks so scrumptious. An ironing board would rival my two set of shelves that I asked and got for my anniversary! Golly, whatever happened to flowers and jewelery?

Happy Birthday!!! It looks you are having a great time with Leiya-chan. I really feel happy for you. I hope you will have a lot of fun time with her while she is here. It will be a precious time for both of you, like a treasure when you look back later.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TANYA! It doesn't get any better than having a day of being taken care of and being able to do what you feel like doing. The colors in the hibiscus is so pretty. And congrats on getting the 365 started! :)

Happy birthday, Taniwa.

Nearly every day I read your blog. I love the stories about living in Japan and your lovely family.
The pictures of Leyla wearing the kimono were amazing. It was new to me, that you wear so much fabric under the kimono.

Hope you'll find an ironing board that pleases you.

Happy Birthday Tanya. May you have many many more wonderful celebrations. Your hibiscus plants are so vibrant-mine are a little bleached out from the intense sun on the porch. Glad you had a great and fun day!
