In the doghouse

You may remember way back when, I wanted to sew a shirt for myself using an old kimono given to me by a friend. I had even found a pattern book in the library and traced the pattern to some butcher paper (in Japan they don't sell patterns on tissue like McCalls and Butterick!) But I had so many things I needed to do that the pattern has just been sitting for nearly a month. Well yesterday since I felt good about the When-oh-When I went ahead and made the shirt! I am not much of a seamstress and figuring out the sewing directions in Japanese is always a challenge but this is the result! I like big baggy shirts where I can wear something under them (besides they hide bulges and flab better) so I think this will suit my wardrobe well. It has such a pretty, dark blue woven pattern that will go great with my regular fashion statement of jeans!

So most of the day was very productive and I was in a good mood. I decided to really do some cooking and cleaning in the evening so I made up some home made croquettes which to me is quite a lot of work. Boil potatoes, cook up bacon, onions, clams (and de-shell them), mix them all together and make them into patties to be covered with bread crumbs and then deep fry. Sounds good doesn't it? Sorry, I DON'T KNOW!!! Choco found the patties way back on the counter while I was vacuuming so NO DINNER!!! She ate all six croquettes and was just cleaning the dish with her tongue when I discovered her up on the counter!!! Talk about angry! I would have like to have thrown her out in the snow but that would just mean more clean-up work for me when I brought her back in later so into the doghouse she went. Do you think she looks like she's sorry for ruining my dinner? Tetsu and I had soup, broccoli and rice for dinner, Choco went without! (And no, the onions which dogs are not supposed to have, didn't seem to upset her.)

Oh my goodness. Look at Choco's face! Obviouslly she knows she's in trupble. Our dog, maxy opten sleeps on the couch in our dinning room where he's not supposed to. He usually gets off the couch as soon as he can hear me coming. But he usually messes up the cover so I always know that he was there and he gets big spanky.

hope choco learns his lesson! Lucky dog not to be out of the house permanently!

Isn't that the way it always is. The dogs won't sneak in and eat the soup and broccoli, but you make a special dinner and they grab it as soon as your back is turned.

Oh! All that work gone down the pooch! Choco's innocent look gave me a laugh today. Your blouse is beautiful - love the material!

When I was about 8 we had a beagle who would steal absolutely anything. My mum is a very good rich fruit cake baker and was asked to make a 10" one for a friends special birthday - when it was in the oven my mum thought it tasted so nice that she made one for us also. Once the second one was in the oven she put the newly cooked red hot first cake at the back of the kitchen worksurface to cool and left the kitchen - within the few minutes she was out of the kitchen the dog had taken it off the side and devoured four fifths of it whilst it was still steaming hot - I'll bet the dog had indigestion for days afterwards!!!

The shirt is terrific. And the dog, well, what can one say? I remember the time Molly ate the whole bowl of halloween treats when I turned my back shortly before the trickortreaters were due to arrive. It was at least 50 chocolate bars. We thought we'd have a dead dog on our hands. We had a SICK dog, but she recovered very quickly......and I ran out and bought additional treats.

I had a similar experience once. I was dogsitting a black lab named Rachel for my brother and had spent the day making tamales with a friend. Now, that's really an all day task and when we were finished, I left a olate of about a dozen of them on the counter while I drove my friend home. When I returned 30 minutes later, Rachel had pulled the plate off the counter, opened the corn husks of each one, and eaten every tamale! There were corn husks all over the kitchen floor! I was sooo mad at her but fortunately I had put the other several dozen I'd made in the frig before I left. Later, my husband could never understand why I wouldn't name our daughter Rachel when she was born because he really liked that name.

Your shirt came out beautiful. My childhood dog ate an entire ham off of our kitchen counter once, and we still laugh about it today. Choco is such a cutie in her kennel, but I bet you were ready to wear her out!

I first read about the cat experiment.
Unfortunately we cannot hear the tune
it would be interesting to see the reaction of our cats.
About Choco, well, I don´t think he looks like she is sorry but she looks cute.It is the right way to do Choco in the kennel. This is consistent .I hope she was not sick after eating the humans meal.

Your shirt looks lovely! We had a dog that was very proud of herself one day. Hubby left for work and forgot his lunch by the back door. About 5 min. later he realized what he had done. When he walked in the door there Lady sat wagging her tail and looking very happy. All that was left of the lunch was the stem from a dill pickle. Needless to say, Hubby wasn't as happy as the dog!

Yeah, Choco doesn't look too contrite. In fact, she looks down right satisfied. Bad dog!! That would have really made me angry too. All that work! GRRR!!!
