Paragraphs

Can somebody tell me why I have so many problems getting the double spaces at each paragraph? I waste sooooo much time trying to get double spaces between my paragraphs so that the post will be easy to read but even though on the Create page I've got the double spaces (sometimes a huge block of space) on the blog it comes out single spaced.

This happens most often after I put in pictures. I first write a post, then add pictures (which always seem to end up at the top of the page) and then I pull them down to where I want them. In the process of adding pictures, the original double spaces turn into huge blocks of space so I start readjusting the paragraph spaces and then on the blog they disappear. Or if I don't adjust the spaces then the blog has huge spaces too.

I didn't notice this problem when I was still using Mozilla but when I went back to Explorer it really is aggravating and I end up playing around by trial and error.

Should I download pictures first? Should I double space after the pictures are in? Should I do a dance of "double space twice back space three times" or something? Does anyone else have this problem?

I like writing posts and I like adding pictures. Since the posts do get long, I'd like to make it as easy as possible for people to read.

Help please!

I have trouble with the double spacing sometimes not being there after I've entered them, and I know not why. I don't know how to "drag" photos around so mine are always first. I did learn how to type between them or under them but I'm not creative enough to do anything different. Sorry I'm no help.

No advice, really, but deep sympathy! My problem is trying to get the additional line between paragraphs. I can do it, but it is as tedious as your situation! I use IE, too.

I've often wondered the exact same things Tanya!!

So very annoying, isn't it?

Let me know if you find the answer, or an explanation at least...

I've had a similar problem with Wordpress. Have you looked at the post under the HTML tab. It could be something to do with that. Sometimes there are more carriage returns in there than you think and the lines get squashed up.

Your block and that lovely scarf arrived when I was in Paris. Thank you so much.

I put the photos in first, then I put in my text between photos. I hit "publish" and look at the blog. If the paragraphs are not right, I go to "edit" and add or subtract space(s) between them.

Go to the html tab. The code for the paragraph space is the letter p with brackets around it. The brackets are above the comma and the period. It will be at the beginning of the paragraph. And at the end of the paragraph, there will be an ending one with a / before the p. You can also use them without any letters or words between the code if you just want extra space.

So if you find one where you don't like it, take those out, and put them in where you want. Just be sure to do both the beginning and the ending one.

P.S. when moving pictures around, I move all the code for the picture instead dragging the photo. This keeps all the code together, so all your pictures remain clickable.

I should say though that the code for what a paragraph looks like is set up on the template, and that this seems more like a blogger glitch, and blogger will probably correct that. Eventually. I've had that problem before and it corrected itself.

Christine and Shelina had good advice.

I always put the pictures in in reverse order (last one in blog first), then type in whatever. But instead of using the paragraph coding, go to the HTML tab and if it's NOT putting in the double space, type in < BR> (without the space)...this is a line break. For double space, type it twice( < BR>< BR> without spaces). This usually works. Sometimes when it puts in way too many lines...I've had to delete all the extra lines and put in 2 of the BR codes to get it to work...Blogger hiccups I think!

Can you go back to Mozilla?

I have the same problem with a wiki I have for one of my classes, but haven't had the problem with my blog.

Hope you get it fixed!

The problem occurs when you "unintentionally" remove part of the HTML code. The annoying thing with Blogger is that what it shows you on the preview page is not the same as what it shows after you publish your post.
