Homesick

Leiya wrote yesterday to say that two of her friends had been killed in a car accident. How can I comfort her? Even though we know death can happen at any time, the denying, the anger, the sadness can't be passed over. This song says it well for me.

Homesick by Mercy Me

You're in a better place, I've heard a thousand times

And at least a thousand times I've rejoiced for you

But the reason why I'm broken, the reason why I cry

Is how long must I wait to be with you

I close my eyes and I see your face

If home's where my heart is then I'm out of place

Lord, won't you give me strength to make it through somehow

I've never been more homesick than now

Help me Lord cause I don't understand your ways

The reason why I wonder if I'll ever know

But, even if you showed me, the hurt would be the same

Cause I'm still here so far away from home

I close my eyes and I see your face

If home's where my heart is then I'm out of place

Lord, won't you give me strength to make it through somehow

I've never been more homesick than now

In Christ, there are no goodbyes

And in Christ, there is no end

So I'll hold onto Jesus with all that I have

To see you again

To see you again

And I close my eyes and I see your face

If home's where my heart is then I'm out of place

Lord, won't you give me strength to make it through somehow

Won't you give me strength to make it through somehow

Won't you give me strength to make it through somehow

I've never been more homesick than now

"For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part,

but then I shall know fully just as I also have been fully known."

1 Corinthians 13:12

How terrible for your daughter. It is always shocking when someone so young dies. It's a good thing that you will see her soon. Take care.

I am sorry your daughter is in such pain, and I am sorry you can't be with her to comfort her. I will pray for your daughter and her friend's families.

I'm so sorry about your daughter's loss. It is hard to be so far away at times like these. May God comfort you both.

I'm so sorry for Leiya's loss...and for you too. What an awesome song...I had never heard it before. My favorite by Mercy Me is "I Can Only Imagine". (You can find it on YouTube also.)

So sorry for your daughter's loss - life is so fragile - a timely reminder to live each day to the full as we don't know what's round the next corner

I think I read about that accident in the paper. :(

So sorry for Leiya and of course for the families of her friends.

It certainly is shocking when a young person dies so suddenly, whether or not you knew them. And if it is a friend, I'm sure it must be even harder. So sorry about her loss.

I'm so sorry to hear that your daughter is going through the loss of her friends. It must be such a difficult time...and so difficult for you as her mother being so far away.
I'll be thinking about Leiya and you over the comings days and weeks.

My sincere sympathy to your daughter and the families of those lost. It is so hard when a young person dies, and the abruptness of an accident makes it worse for those left behind. Even though she doesn't have your presence I know that your words are a comfort to her.

Oh, Tanya, how sad, how awful! For Leiya to have such a loss at her age and for you to be unable to put your arms around her. I'm so sorry, friend.

Love,

This must be one of the hardest things to handle when she is so very far away from you. It seems like this time of year accidents to teens start happening, and continue though until school's out. I'm so sorry Leyia has lost friends at such a young age - how tragic for all of them.
