I just spent half an hour chatting with Tetsu. He sounds fine and assures me that all the animals are well. I consulted him on a few matters, things like "Do you think I should get an electronic collar for Choco so that we can try a new tactic to control her barking?" Tetsu suggested holding off until I get back to Japan since no one is complaining about Choco at the moment. Of course, Tetsu isn't at home all day so how would he know if Choco is barking and he's not there to answer anyone if they did want to complain. Anybody have an opinion on static collars? I was surprised to see so many dogs that seem to know their boundaries because of electric fences and I am constantly amazed by the well-behaved dogs that greet me on the street when they are out walking with their owners, or even sitting in their yards. Although we've tried training Choco she is very hyper and I can't get her to stop barking at all.
I also consulted Tetsu about purchasing a laptop. I'm using Leiya's and I really like hers. Our computer in Japan is about ready to give out and I hadn't heard from Tetsu since he went back to Japan so I wondered if the computer had just completely crashed and he wasn't getting our e-mails. Yes and no. Tetsu said he hadn't opened the computer once since he's been back just because it crashes so often he was afraid to even start it up after the three weeks that no one has used it. I guess he has been looking at my blog from his office computer though. I have the go ahead to do whatever I like on buying a computer. Tetsu won't use it so if I want to buy one in America (and in English) it doesn't affect him. Then again, I'm not sure the voltage and charging system is the same, I wouldn't be able to get insurance on it if I bought it here etc. etc. Still thinking this one through. Maybe better prices in the States...
Takumi visited us briefly and he left last night to pack up his apartment before going to Japan. It will be the first time for him to got back to Japan since he graduated from high school four years ago. I got him to take back a suitcase for me (mostly filled with quilt backing fabric). Takumi and Leiya won't see each other for probably a year (unless Leiya comes out to California again at Christmas) but Tetsu and I will see Takumi while he's in Japan though he's going to spend the first month traveling around to friends' home in other parts of Japan.
Let's see... Other things that we've been doing... Went to a street fair one evening and ate a lot of Kettle Corn. MMMMmmm. Good!
Had a barbecue and let Takumi do the honors of cooking. He needs to learn how the all-American man takes care of his family!
More family pictures of Grandma and me looking cheery in yellow.
Have a good day!
