Christmas decorations

Tetsu and I spent Saturday putting up Christmas decorations around the house. I still can't find one box but I think except for the Christmas tree decorations everything else is up. Tetsu put lights up around the house and on one of our outside trees. My little plastic Christmas tree sits on the end table next to the sofa but it is still bare. Maybe the English kids will enjoy decorating it for me today.

HOWEVER... We seem to have a major problem this year because Chip and Toi find the decorations I've put up to be the absolutely most wonderful cat toys they've ever seen. They especially like my plastic canvas needlepoint creche that at the best of times tends to fall over. The creche figures are light, furry and have pretty colors, just right for kitties to carry around and play with. Toi and Chip have invented a type of ornament hockey and they bat Jesus, the sheep and the Wise men around the floor and I find donkeys and shepherds in my shoes (Japanese shoes are taken off at the front door and are left at a step lower than the floor right?) I can't think of another place to put my needlepoint creche this year so maybe it will go back in the box before some of the figures are lost.

Here is what this creche is SUPPOSED to look like. I shudder to think what the cats are going to do the hanging Christmas tree ornaments.

would setting the creche on a tray or in a shallow box so there was a little edge around it help keep them from getting the "puck" loose? :-)

That reminds me of my friend's cat many years ago. We were teenagers and came home to her house. Her cat was at the top of the tree and there was blue silky string stretched from one end of the house to the other. The tree had been decorated with blue ornaments which were covered with the blue string. The cat had been playing with them all day and had torn off every bit of the string! We laughed so hard!!

I think I will have a similar problem with Dora this year, as it is her first Christmas, too. I think I will use the ceramic tree! Shizuku could care less about Christmas, Dora is beginning to play again! Your creche is beautiful! Such a lot of work!!

How about if you put it in a box with saran wrap in front of it........Then you could at least see it.......

I've spent today putting up Christmas decorations too...and I'm worn out, although not quite finished. Once they're done it will be nice to look at them though.

The kittens first couple of Christmases I had a small tree that I could put out of their reach and a cupboard with glass doors. that definitely made decorating easier. I can see how those needlepoint figures are PERFECT cat toys. just the right size and softness. good luck!

Definitely a shadow box under glass (which would also help with the dusting!). By next year both will be more acclimated to the seasonal changes in the house, and older, so you may not have as many problems. The crech figures are lovely, I can see all the work that went into them.

The tree? If they're the climbing sort......

It's amazing what we end up accomodating with cats, isn't it?

Young cats have a lot in common with children---into everything and cute as the dickens.

Oh they are cute aren't they, Chips and Toi, I mean!!! We have given up and won't put up the Christmas tree this year because of Jimmy, it would be too devestating for it to be destroyed! Instead I have bought a little tabletop tree.
That creche is awfully sweet.

Kittens are always cute and i love playing with them but they are naughty too. My cute sweety last year was about tore the christmas decorations. But, thank god some how I saved those. Your decorations are really good and mind blowing.

Yesterday, I also decorated our Christmas tree. Most of our ornaments are country crafts that I bought in the U.S. Although I miss the fresh Christmas tree and its nice smell, I'm satisfied with this smaller plastic tree with a lot of memories.
