Changed

I had some extra time yesterday afternoon so I worked some more on the Prayer quilt. Well! Certainly changed the feeling of THAT quilt with just the addition of those red corners. It is no longer a blue quilt... I auditioned various fabrics but blue corners and purple corners made the whole quilt seem cold so I opted for red... and when I got it all put together it no longer looked like the quilt I had in mind... Isn't that funny how quilts sort of decide themselves about how they will turn out...?

I think this needs an outer border but I don't have a lot of large pieces of fabric in my stash (in red nor blue). I keep reminding myself that it isn't the quilt but the prayers so I'll probably go with stash fabric than go running out to find the "perfect" border. What will this quilt look like tomorrow?

Oh, and I received a letter from the city telling me that they were hiring me for the position of crosswalk guard. Along with the letter was a sheet for filling in my measurements for a uniform. Height. WEIGHT! Shoulder to wrist. Neck to wrist. Crotch to heel. Bust. Waist. Hips. Neck. Head. And Shoe size. Whew! I wish I'd been more diligent on a diet. Too late now!

Tanya,
Quilt is turning out lovely. Red always gives a nice warm feeling. Happy for you in your new job.Hope you get all of your measurements finished before any changes. :>) You could just say" I'm a perfect "36", (12,12,12). Probably not too humorous, is it? Have a good weekend.

I like the red, I do agree it makes it more cheerful! Quilts can be kinda bossy sometimes :P

Congrats on your job. Will we get to see you in your cute little outfit?

I LOVE the red squares! Yes quilts do have a way of telling you how they should go. Congrats on the job Tanya - can't wait to hear how it goes!

The quilt is looking lovely, the red squares really give it some zing. Well done on the job; if I were you I'd exaggerate the measurements a little bid, regardless of what they might think, as I can imagine this will be a job where you'd want your uniform to be comfortable rather than fashionable and chic.

Tanya, That is certainly a beautiful quilt. Please could you explain more about how you chose the colours you have worked with. I know that you used fabric from your stash, but how did you chose which one next to which one, when making up the individual blocks?
Love your blog!

Congrats, on your new job!

Can't wait to see a photo of you in your new uniform.
I really like the red squares and how they change the feeling of the quilt.

Hi Tanya,
the measurements will be important for fit, especially if you say you find it difficult to find things in your size in Japan.

I teach City and Guilds Fashion (advanced dressmaking). you have to look at it in a clinical way... never mind how you feel about it.

It sounds like they try to make it to measure, so you will need to be fairly accurate. and like the other lady says, you may have to round up rather than snug it in when you measure the bust - waist - hips. They might not be used to western sizes and you want to be sure it is not too tight.

I am glad you got the job. I am sure you will find new ways to reach people with the love of God you often show to others.

The red is perfect in this quilt. Very pleasing to look at, so it must be "right".
Congrats on the job....just think how loose and comfy your uniform will be when you do loose weight!!!

I love the little quilt, and I try to include some red in most everything I make (my adopted Grandma did too, guess I got it from her!). Congratulations on the job. Hope you will be happy with it.

When I don't have enough for a border I use a piano keys border........

Congrations! I hope you enjoy the job and find helping the children fulfulling. Please post a picture of your uniform. You can just snap a picture of it lying on the floor if you don't want to model it! You have mentioned that you are taller and generally larger than most Japanese women, although you certainly don't look very large to me!. Still, I wonder if they will have a standard uniform in your size. If I were there they would have a problem! And I bet not many Japanese women wear a size 11 shoe!
