Weekend progress

The weekend was fairly productive though I never got to the borders for my Patches and Pinwheels quilt... Why is it with all the fabric in my stash there is not what I think is the "perfect" fabric? Well, I'm going to stick with imperfect and not go out looking for more fabric. It is too scary to think of all the money I might spend! (And all the additions that I will buy but will not be the "perfect" fabric for future projects...and I'll go out and buy more. A never ending cycle.)

I worked on another Alabama Beauty block... Now why am I doing this? I decided that I couldn't ask my friends to make this. But it is a challenge and so I put together another. I think I've figured out how to lay the seams so that things lock together better. Even so, the center seam doesn't fit exactly yet. I'll have to make ANOTHER one to see if I can match the center better! (I can find all sorts of excuses to do things.)

And I got fed up with the clutter in my laundry room and asked Tetsu to bring me a board so that I could prop up a shelf. Instead my handy carpenter went to work out in the yard and built me another Tetsu original! As he points out, all his furniture looks about the same... Big, heavy, rough, and crooked but it serves the purpose and at least our home is coordinated!

Thank you Tetsu!

Actually, it looks just like he got it at IKEA! the no-nonsense, utilitarian, wooden look is all the rage.

It's wonderful that he will build you things that you need. We could all use a carpenter around the house. And it looks exactly like some pantry shelving units Williams Sonoma used to sell at a huge price.

Oh, I was also going to say that I can't find a thing wrong with your fabric choices on the Alabama Beauty blocks. The rust and blue block is lovely. I think you're doing a great job piecing them.

Tetsu can come build for me anytime!! My DH is wonderful but NOT handy. We had a cupboard that set on the floor for two years because we couldn't find the stud in the wall. Well, the carpenter was here this spring and my cupboard is now on the wall! (just don't ask how many holes I drilled trying to find the stud two years ago--suffice it to say I hung a quilt over the holes the last two years!)

I love those two! They are beautiful and isn't it great having someone handy around :) (and Lori - electric stud finders are cheap and easy to use, sadly they only work on walls and not males *grin*)

What a stunning block Tanya - way too many curves for me to attempt - but so elegant - will you make a whole quilt of them?

Beautiful blocks! You'll have to teach us how to make them. I wouldn't mind attempting to make one to put in a sampler quilt. How wonderful to have a handy husband who can make a customized shelf to specially meet your needs.

The blocks are wonderful. I love the way they look. They are one of those blocks I will admire, but not try myself. Keep on making them.
