Earthquake report
Thank you for your prayers. We are all okay. The house is a major mess. Everything but everything has fallen over or out and there are a lot of broken dishes and picture frames everywhere. What a story I have to tell you but maybe I'll wait until things settle down. We are still getting regular tremors every few minutes. I mean, stand up and grab a wall tremors! Lorraine is with me and we are camping out in the living room tonight. No train service for her and little telephone service. The computer works. I did chat with Takumi to let him know we are okay. More news tomorrow morning.

Taniwa, I lived thru the Alaskan 9.2 in 1964 and so totally understand what is going on. Stay safe. The aftershocks were worse on our nerves than the actual earthquake.
You were the first person I thought of when I heard the news this morning.
Stay safe. x
I hope the ground settles down very soon. I will be praying for everyone to be safe. Glad to hear you and Lorraine are okay.
Thanks for the up-date. That was really scary! And, we too have a mess of broken stuff to clean up. Paul is stuck in the city.(along with a cast of thousands)Still getting a few after-shocks ... or the poor dog is shaking the house.
I'm glad your friend is not stuck on the train in the middle of nowhere.
Tanya i think to you.
I'm sorry for this earthquake and here in Italy my TV is always with you.
ciao ciao
glad to hear your safe, it is very hard to comprehend
Dear Tanya,
Here in Holland the radio reports all day long about the terrible earthquake in Japan. I read your blog every day and enjoy your stories about living in Japan. I never had any contact with you. But today I feel the need to let you know I think about you and all the people suffering from this disaster.
Thank you for posting, Tanya. Very glad you are ok. Take care and be safe.
Thank goodness you are all right--thought about you right away even though I have not been blog-surfing for ages. What a terrible terrible thing. Please take care.
Thank you for the news report. Thought of you when I heard the news, and wondered about you. My dear friend who lived near me in USA that has moved back to Japan lives in Nagoya City. If you know of any news of that area I'd be interested. I hope you do not suffer any further damage, it sounds so scary and so terrible, I cannot imagine how you must feel as you go through this. I appreciate your keeping us informed if possible but of course your safety is what matters. Hugs.

Tanya, just so glad that you are OK. My son was supposed to be travelling from London to Tokyo on Saturday evening to visit his girlfriend, but I guess that won't be happening now. I just hope that Lily is OK. All the news is very worrying. Pippa
I'm so grateful to hear you are OK. Keep us informed of what's happening when you are able. Stay safe.
Your friends in Israel have Japan in our prayers.

Hi Tanya,
I am praying for you. I hadn't put on the news, so the first I heard of the earthquake was when I read your blog.
We will be praying that you and your friends at your church can show faith in tangible ways during this crisis time in people's lives.

Thank you for posting! You were the first person I thought of when I saw the report 5 minutes ago. Glad to hear you're just shaken, not harmed. Take care! He's got the whole world in His hands...cling to that when it starts rumbling!

So glad to hear you are OK ... we'll keep praying as you get yourselves sorted ... praying for the whole country as they learn the extent of the damage and start to recover.
Wow - I turned on the tv this morning to find out about our "winter storm" which amounted to 1 inch of snow. And they were talking about a tsunami in California after an earthquake in Japan. So of course I thought of you and had to come check. I am glad you are okay. Lorraine is going to have quite the story to tell when this is all over. And I don't envy you the cleanup. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. and friends and guest.
Thank you for taking your precious time to let us all know you are OK. Glad you had a friend to ride thru it with, friends are the best! ((hugs))
When I saw the news this morning, I thought of you and your family right away. I hope all continues to be well. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

O, thank God you are safe! You were the first thought to cross my mind on hearing this morning's news, and how good of you to take the time to post.
So Happy to see your post this morning. Glad you are ok. Been thinking of you since I heard the news. Stay safe!
Tanya, I am so glad you and Tetsu are okay. I read that he was away and didn't read that he came back. So when I heard the news I was really scared for you. I am thinking and praying for you and your family.
For broken dishes, think about it that now you have a good excuse to buy new ones.
I am sending my hugs.
Thinking of you...stay safe.

Just learned of earthquake when I turned on computer this a.m. Told Bill I needed to know if you were OK...so here I am..and happy, so happy, my friend, that you are safe. Replacing dishes is easy, replacing you, and your kind, caring and loving heart can never be accomplished. Blessings and prayers, Tanya.
I lived in Alaska during our big earthquake and always felt so lucky a tsunami didn't hit our little island in our Southeast Alaskan area near Juneau.
We will all love and wait for a full report!!!
So glad you and Lorraine are all right-but is Tetsu back from Tokyo? I was watching TV last night and saw the immediate news, watched the tsunami with horror, live, and could hardly tear myself away to go to bed after midnight. Unspeakable tragedy and heartbreak for all the Japanese.
So relieved to hear from you, thanks for letting us know you are okay. Many prayers being said for all the people affected by this. I haven't heard from my friends in Tokyo yet. I will be checking back here for when you have further updates. Worried for Tetsu. Worried for you. What chaos.
Glad you are safe - thinking of your friends and neighbors today and in the days to come.
Thank you for the update! Our prayers are with you. So glad your only losses were dishes.
Thank God, you are alright. When I saw the TV this morning, I thought of you and was worried.
thank you for letting us know that you and yours are okay - i always worry about you and Tetsu-san!
I'm glad to hear you're safe! You're lucky to not be alone and to still have a computer and shelter.
Be safe!
Glad to see your post and that you are okay. Sorry to hear about the damage to your home. How are the animals doing? I will LOL forward to your next report. My friend who survived a strong earthquake says it is quite the experience. Sounds like Lorraine is a good person to have around at this time. Take care.
So happy to hear you are alright. The photos just make one want to weep. Prayers for you all.
PTL! You were the first on my mind when I heard.
Prayers continue for you and yours. May the Lord keep watch over you and all of Japan through this time. Joyce in VA
I am glad that you are okay...I was so worried this morning. I told Tadashi that I had to make sure that you were okay. I can breath a little easier. Thanks for letting us all know you are alive!

Tanya, I thought of you when I heard about the quake! I am so thankful you are OK and were able to post this message to us! Your country is in a bad way, and I am thinking of you.

Read about it on Facebook this morning. Posts by our nephew's Phillipine wife & a friend of hers in Japan. Mostly in Tagalog but enough English for me to figure out Japan had been hit by earthquakes. She says, "That's the way Japan is." They'll be moving back there in May & now I'll worry about them. Stay safe.
So glad you were spared more serious problems. I thougth of you immediately and your family and friends that you have shared on your blog. Keeping you and all you love in my prayers and your lovely country.
Thank you for posting and letting us know that you are ok. I've been thinking of you all day. Stay safe and hope things settle down soon. Bet the cats are confused. Hope they are coping. ((Hugs))
I don't know anyone in Japan except you, via your blog, and immediately thought and came here to check your blog. Glad you are ok.
It is such a relief, Tanya, to hear that you and Tetsu are safe! My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Nina
so glad that you are safe. like everyone else you were the first person I thought about when I heard the news. I read and enjoy your blog everyday but don't usually comment but just had to say how glad I am that you are safe. Roseann, Seattle, WA
I am still in shock of the news of this disaster I learned of it only three hours ago, Thank God you are allright Tanya.
As soon as I heard I jumped right to your blog--so glad you and your family and friends are safe! I'll continue to hold you and the people of Japan in my prayers.
Stay safe! Glad you are all OK.
Oh Tonya! I read your blog almost everyday and rarely comment. I've been thinking of you all day and just now had time to check to see if you're ok. Thanks be to the Lord you & your family are ok. I will continue to pray for you and your country in the upcoming days.
Beth in Alabama, USA
relieved to learn you're alright. stay safe!
I'm continuing to keep you in prayer Tanya - so horrified at this, and just heard there was another quake. May the Lord continue to keep you safe and have mercy on the people of Japan!
Tanya so glad to hear that you and Lorraine are okay. You have been ever present in my prayers. How are; Tetsu, the quilting ladies, and your swimming friends? I do pray they are okay too.
Things can be replaced. People can't.
We had a Japanese USAR team come down to help us out with our Earthquake (in Christchurch, New Zealand). We were very blessed to have an outpouring of international assistance. I do pray that Japan receives similar offers of help and support.
If there is anything we can do to help - please let us know.
I too thought of you first thing when I heard about the earthquake. Myself and other family members have been praying for you and everyone in Japan since this started. We will continue to hold you up in prayer
courage Tanya, earthquake i know that.
When I first heard the news I thought of you and couldn't remember where in Japan you lived. Glad you are OK, but can't help but wonder about your cats too. I would imagine they're pretty stressed. My thoughts and prayers are with Japan.
I am so happy to hear you are okay. I kept thinking about you all day at work and couldn't wait to get home to see if you posted anything. How close are you to the major destruction. I know that probably sounds like a dumb question. Thank-you so much for posting and letting us know all is okay, I know it probably was not the first thought on your mind.
So glad you are safe!
The pictures and reports coming thru are so sad.
Like many others, when I first heard the news, I clicked on my blogreader. And all day, while at work, I prayed. Glad to "hear" that you are "OK" - prayers continue from Texas for you, your family, and all of Japan.
Tanya, Praying for all the people of Japan and glad that you and your household are relatively safe. Know that we are constantly remembering all of you in our prayer time. I love your blog and always enjoy reading about your life and your quilting. Lorraine will certainly have tales to tell when she gets back home. Be brave and be careful.
Taniwa, I hope things get better as soon as possible. We think and pray everyday for you people of Japan. Stay safe, God bless you
