We are sewing at my mother's house these days. Nothing completed to show yet but we are working on it! Here is Marcy sewing and Kiana cutting strips. Grandma can't understand how one can make a quilt from strips and asks me the same question tens of times a day.
"How can you make a quilt from strips?" "What are you trying to make?" "Is that going to be a blanket?"
Close enough... I'm going batty answering her constantly.

Scrappy (not a great picture of him) was helping hold down quilt blocks. He is a little more rambunctious than my cats.
And as I direct the sewing process I am working on some hand sewn stars for my block exchange game. I wanted to show you this nifty tool that Mrs. Furui found for us a few weeks back.

This is a portable needle threader. It is about the size of a lipstick.

There is a little compartment on the bottom half where needles can be stored. And a little magnetic dealy on the bottom too.

If you push the top of the blue cover down, the needle threader part is exposed and there is a thread cutter hidden away back there too.
It is handy to carry around in a little pouch or sewing basket and of course because it threads needles it saves me from a lot of frustrations!

I don't think you can get it in the States... I looked on-line and didn't see it.
I'm glad I have it!

Hi Tanya - this looks like the same kind of threader http://www.sewline-product.com/Sewline_Quickthru_Needle_Threader. Must get one, the old eyes just aren't what they used to be :)
Looks like you are having a fun time with your family.
What a handy little gadget! I just love your square in the bottom image. It looks as if you are all having a wonderful time.
A needle threader comes in handy when threading that fuzzy thick basting thread. I also like it when I have an end that has become frayed and don't want to cut it because I need the length to finish up a row.
Have fun and just answer your mom's comments over and over. She's only asking because she is interested in what you are doing.
That looks fun! Love the blocks. That needle threader looks like a very handy little tool!
I have another type of needle threader, but, that one looks like it might be better for traveling.
Love the block, the sewing session and the needle threader.I hope our Japanese girls can find one and bring it to NZ when they come in August.Does it have a special name or brand? With fingers not so nimble and eyesight not so good, it would be literally a life-saver of a quilting kind. Enjoy the days.Cheers from Jean
I get through loads of needle threaders, the type I have break easily and are so easy to lose. I must look for something a little more robust. But how I wish that the needle threader on my sewing machine was more robust too, it's shifted again so I have to do that by hand and it's not easy.
Hi Tanya, AbbyKat was correct in her comment above. Here in the States, that needle threader is distributed under the brand name Sewline. You are correct. It is very handy. I have one and love it. In case anyone else is interested, they can go to www.quiltshops.com and enter Sewline Needle Threader in the search box. It will bring up several online shops that sell them. Happy Quilting! Hugs, Jay
