1) I like taking pictures but I don't really get out and about very much. Tetsu and I don't go traveling. Our major activity is visiting hot spas and I might get arrested if I started taking pictures in a hot spa! Basically I lead a very quiet life. I've about photographed my way through life in Nikko. A rice field is a rice field...
2) My cats and Choco are always keeping me in smiles but animals have a way of looking the same no matter how old they get. I wish I could say the same for yours truly! So if you've seen one of my cats in a cute sleeping position, you've seen them all in the same position.
3) I am diligently quilting the Crazy Goose Chase Quilt (returned to me by Mrs. Furui who did her quota last week) but I sure haven't had any finishes in a long time, have I? So quilt pictures have been far and few between.
4) But the last reason why I feel guilty about not having pictures to show is because...... I ... bought ... a ... new ... camera! I bought it, but it hasn't been delivered yet. Tomorrow is the big day!
You don't know how many hours I've agonized about whether I needed a new camera or not.
"Why do you need a new camera? For blogging? Are you just trying to impress people? Do you want a new camera because other people have big cameras? Are you really going to be blogging forever? Your compact camera has always been enough... you've been happy with that haven't you?"
But I've been "talking" about a big camera for a couple of years now... I wanted to borrow my sister-in-law's but she couldn't even tell me how to use it and just hefting it a few times was very overpowering. Maybe this ISN'T what I want... I like being able to carry my camera around in my pocket...
So... what did I buy? A middle range "mirrorless" camera... whatever that means. Cheaper than the big professional looking things! Smaller too. I was limited to some brands because many Japanese cameras only have ... Japanese... I really felt I needed English to make the most of my acquisition. The price was good, it is still big but not biggest,
I guess Leiya's comment was what pushed me over the edge.
"I don't know anyone who takes a many pictures as you do."
Anyway... I'm looking forward to playing with a new camera. I sure hope I can find things to take photos of or my guilt trip is going to grow! No way, Tanya!!! Enjoy!!!

Stop that guilt trip right NOW and celebrate the new camera! I still have the first camera I got when I was dragged screaming and kicking into the digital age. Sure, it works fine but I think of all those neat lenses on my EOS and think how nice it would be to have a camera I could use them on ... even if I don't NEED one.
Congrats on the new camera and I hope you spend many happy hours using it. I hope it's easy to figure out - unlike, say, my husband's digital SLR, which completely confounds me. It's also heavy as a brick, so I am not tempted to try it any more. I would like a little more sophisticated camera, something like your "middle range" purchase, but my life often doesn't seem very photogenic any more and I can't imagine what I'd photograph. But you always have such interesting pictures, I know you'll find many subjects.
Tanya...You take pictures because it is a blessing to have that memory, and to bless your 'FANS' with what your eye sees! Remember we each can only see what is in our world...so you bring your world into our view! ♥♥♥
Oh, you will LOVE your new camera. I got a digital SLR a few years ago and I love using it even if it is a bit complicated and I haven't figured out everything yet. It does take great pictures. I don't have too many grandchildren close by so nature is my subject of choice and now that Spring is here, I have more subject matter! I still keep my little digital close by for throwing in my purse wwhen I don't want the trouble of the larger one. I enjoy both!
Good luck - I can't wait to see your pictures! There is a web site that has some photography articles and lessons Here is the link if you are interested

I found it very helpful. They did it as a weekly course about 5 years ago. Have fun!!!!
No guilt trips, please...they don't look good on you!! And, no matter the camera, you have a knack for taking pictures, just like you have a knack for quilting!! So there....but can't wait until you start posting pictures from the new camera...hugs, Pat in IN.
Congratulations, Tanya! Enjoy your new camera, and you're not allowed to feel guilty about it....no more guilt in the digital age, after all, we don't have to spend money on getting pictures developed. Thank goodness!!!
Enjoy your new camera Tanya. I love seeing your photos - your quilts and little bits of where you live. It is always interesting to see snippets of where and how someone else lives, especially if its somewhere you have never been.I have 3 cameras, a big heavyish DSLR, a little point and shoot and the one on my phone and they all get used often.Robyn in Oz
Have fun with your new camera. I think we regret the things we wanted but didn't get more than anything we do get. No reason to feel guilty at all.
I don't know anyone who has a more interesting blog than you, Tanya! I love seeing the rice fields, the cats, the dog....so I'm glad you got a new camera..why? you'll take lots more photos for us to see through your eyes. thanks!

Yep - stop the guilt thing about a new camera -- use your own wisdom "whatever your hands find to do, do it with all your heart." You are not a spender, you are so careful with your purchases, you are over 40, you deserve to do what you want, and to all, "within reason." 8-)) I love reading and seeing all you post on your blog - have not been commenting due to "everything is taking so much longer than it used to"!
