Wednesday and I'm off for a long day. It snowed last night again but the roads don't seem to be frozen so I think I'll be okay driving to the next city. Here is a picture of the expressway on the other side of the forest from me. It isn't a freeway, it's an expressway meaning we pay tolls but right now it only costs about a $1 for a 15 minute drive. That's half the usual fee so I've been using it a bit more to save driving time. No one out on the expressway at 6:30 in the morning but on weekends it gets a lot of use.
And in the other direction from the overpass where I was taking these pictures is Mt. Nantai. It is the Mt. Fuji of Nikko area and while not as beautiful maybe, I love seeing it in the distance sitting behind all the rice fields.
Bye.

If that closing photo isn't the prettiest thing I've ever seen I don't know what is... oh, my!
You have a good eye for taking beautiful photos. The one of the moutain looks like it should be framed as art. Snow is so wonerful to look at, it's to bad that it has to be so cold outside when it happens. Have a safe trip.
A four lane highway completely empty at 6:30 in the morning? That's incomprehensible. Toll road or not, they're packed over here during morning rush hour (which is a misnomer, because it actually lasts 3 hours).
Your photos are beautiful. You have a good eye.
What beautiful scenery you have for us today! Mt.Nantai looks so happy....Thanks for sharing your drive today!

Lovely photos as usual! (^_^)
I was happy to find your site. I too love Japan, alas from a distance, and love the Lord. What a gift to experience all the seasons as shown by so many Japanese artists. Looking forward to reading and seeing more. You can see my Asian interpretations and read how I came to love Japan.
Living in a rural, flat part of the midwest, seeing a few like you have sounds awesome.
Your mountain photo is stunning with the snow-laden branches in the fore-ground
