Faces and spaces

This post is to remind myself that I am a quilter. Yesterday I spent a quiet day quilting the Wonky Love quilt. I love days like this when I don't have ANYTHING planned at all. Not one thing to mar my non-schedule. Usually I have one measly class or a trip to the grocery store or some household task that doesn't take any time but has to be put somewhere into the day. Yesterday dratted Choco pulled me down on our morning walk and I banged my head so Tetsu declared that I was to stay home and do NOTHING. In my book, nothing means I am still allowed to quilt so that's how I spent the day and I can say I am finished with stitch-in-the-ditch quilting in this quilt! Yeah! (And no after effects of the head banging!)

Now, what if anything, should I do about the white spaces? And what, if anything should I do about the animal faces in this quilt? Do you think I should embroider whiskers and eyes? Use beads? Should I just go ahead and put on the binding and work on the details of this quilt later? Today is another mostly free day so I'll see where my inspiration takes me.

I also want to show that I got Lynette's Noah's Ark block done ON TIME! (I finished it up late Halloween night). Whew! That was close.

And my fingers are itching to get to the yarn I bought for Tetsu's vest but I really think I should put in a few more stitches on my quilt before I start that project!

I'd really like to see what you picked out for Tetsu's vest. Any hints?

I'd put the binding and label on your quilt, then continue quilting as time and inclination motivate you... that way its done, yet not so finished you can't pick up...

What about quilting chains of hearts (like paper dolls only hearts) in the white spaces?
I think the animals would like some embroidery for their little faces.
If you have already quilted the scrappy border, you could go ahead and put the binding on and then quilt more as you feel inspired.
It's such a wonderful quilt!

I love the animals just the way they are. maybe echo quilting - just keep moving however far out (in Hawaii it was a quarter inch but I bet that would make you nuts) and do another line. add more hearts in here or there. good luck and it does need more quilting, even if you can't decide just yet how.

I think it depends on what you're planning for the quilt - if it's for using then beads might not be a good idea, but if it's for hanging on display then beads for eyes etc would look great. I like Tonya's idea of some echo quilting, plus breaking into the odd heart here and there too perhaps. Or you could do some embroidered lazy-daisy flowers and stem stitch/back stitch stems to meander about - perhaps using white thread so it doesn't contrast up too much.

You are making great progress on your quilt. I think it would be great to quilt motifs that go with the quilt - so more animals, words, etc. Make them wonky so you don't have to worry about tracing exact lines, etc.

I think I would add something to the faces of the animals, but not too much, you know? I too, like Tanya's ideas for quilting. Seems like it would compliment your piecing perfectly. It's a wonderful quilt!

Really cute, but I vote for no beads. Just imagining me taking a nap with that sweet quilt and getting a bead stuck in my eye.

I am hoping that you really are okay after knocking your head. Think you should thank Choco though if it means you had a quiet quilting day!! If it was me I would have to do the rest of quilting, embroidery etc before I did the binding because I would never come back to it!! Looking forward to seeing what you decide.
